Velvet Curtain is a captivating musical that follows a theater troupe navigating fierce rivalries, comedic mishaps, passionate love triangles, and magical twists as they rehearse for what could very well be their final show ever. A colorful cast of characters includes quirky director Sam, lovers Andrew and Cora, jealous chorus girl Gail, enigmatic villain Nick, and witty stagehands Roz and Gil. Amid auditions, rehearsals, and backstage drama, watch how numerous secrets unravel and relationships intertwine as each character attempts to come to terms with their own truth. The play within the play becomes a reflection of the characters' own struggles and desires, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. By the final dress rehearsal, tensions escalate and rumors about a famed theater critic unleash a series of dramatic events that test the strength of friendship, teamwork, sacrifice, and the capacity for love and compassion. With the help of mystical elements and unexpected revelations, this ensemble show embarks on a journey of truth, self-discovery, and redemption. With themes of magic, luck, love, and the transformative power of theatre, Velvet Curtain offers a mesmerizing blend of spectacle and emotion, leaving audiences spellbound until the final curtain.
My Story
Singer/Songwriter Jodie Fox’s expansive vocal range allows for depth and versatility in her original songs. She has played piano from the age of five, became a self-taught guitarist, and learned ukulele over the years. Her music spans from theatrical ballads to folk/indie rock to instrumental chill wave. Jodie is a prolific writer and poet; she won 1st Place at the Southwest Florida Poetry Slam in 2021. She performs live theater and has appeared in numerous stage plays and musicals. Jodie has studied songwriting with Emmy Award winner Mike Meiers and is currently being mentored by Berklee award winning educator, musician, and producer Joseph Capalbo. She recently had sync placements with Higher Ground and featured on the Life Academy YouTube Channel. Jodie’s original music has been placed on episodes of Telecinco’s Supervivientes. She has been featured in Voyage South Florida magazine, in Bold Journey magazine, and in Canvas Rebel magazine. She teaches Songwriting classes, Poetry Slam classes, and Acting classes at Arts Bonita. Jodie is currently creating and composing her original musical, Velvet Curtain, which will be workshopped locally before appearing off-Broadway
